Wiawaka Center for Women
Lake George, NY

Gift yourself—or a woman you love—a weekend that stays with you long after you leave

This is not a painting retreat.
And yes—you will paint.

But the painting isn’t the destination.

It’s the medicine.

Over three days on the shores of Lake George, NY,  you’ll create an image that speaks a language words often cannot. Through an intentional and intuitive creative process, the canvas becomes a mirror—revealing what has been waiting to be seen, honored, released, or reclaimed.

Again and again, women tell me: “I had no idea that was inside me.”

That’s the quiet magic of medicine painting.

The image arrives before the explanation – and somehow it knows.

Held at the historic Wiawaka Center for Women, this weekend offers a rare invitation to step away from the noise of everyday life and return to the relationship that shapes every other relationship you’ll ever have—the one with yourself.

No artistic experience is necessary.

Only a willingness to be curious enough to follow where the painting leads.

What We’ll Explore Together

Every part of the weekend is intentionally designed to support your unfolding.

Through medicine painting, conversation, movement, ritual, and rest, you’ll begin recognizing the stories, expectations, and protective patterns that have quietly shaped how you relate—to yourself and to those you love.

Together we’ll explore

  • Medicine painting as a doorway into your inner wisdom

  • Conversations that reveal the relational patterns ready to shift

  • Gentle movement that helps your body release what words alone cannot

  • Reflection and community that remind you you were never meant to carry everything alone

  • Spacious moments for swimming, walking, journaling—or simply listening to the lake

This is not about becoming someone new.

It’s about remembering the woman who has always been there beneath the roles, responsibilities, and expectations.

What You’ll Take Home

You’ll leave with far more than a painting.  You’ll leave with a companion that continues speaking long after the weekend ends.  Women often tell me they continue discovering new meaning in ther painting months – even years – later.

Your medicine painting becomes a living relaitonship. A visual reminder of your courage.  A witness to your becoming.  And an invitation to keep choosing yourself.

You’ll also leave with

  • A deeper trust in your own inner knowing

  • Fresh perspective on the relationships that matter most

  • Friendships rooted in honesty, tenderness, and shared courage

  • A nervous system that remembers what it feels like to exhale

The Medicine Begins Before We Meet

After you register, you’ll receive a thoughtful reflection questionnaire.  I read every response.  And those reflections become part of how I design the weekend.

No two Art of Relating retreats are ever the same because no two groups arrive carrying the same questions. Each experience is carefully curated around the women who say yes.

The result is a weekend that feels remarkably personal—almost as though the painting knew you were coming.

Your Retreat Includes

  • A private room in the historic Lake House
  • All nourishing meals throughout the weekend
  • Morning movement and evening fire by the lake
  • Every art supply you’ll need
  • Three days of carefully designed and curated retreat experiences
  • Your own medicine painting to bring home

If something inside you has quietly whispered, “It’s time.”

Trust that.

Sometimes healing doesn’t begin with having the answers.  Sometimes it begins with saying yes to the blank canvas.

I would be honored to paint beside you.

With love and clear intention,

Joëlle
