Help! I can’t trust men….

Screen Shot 2014-01-11 at 11.21.59 AM“When mistrust comes in, love goes out.” ~Irish saying

For the majority of my marriage I felt betrayed by my ex-husband, but didn’t have the courage to leave him. Instead, I made him pay for it over and over again.  Through subtle digs, dismissiveness, and less subtle slights, I repeatedly expressed my contempt for him. And,  instead of forgiving or walking away, I let hurt, resentment and anger build a wall between us.

It didn’t take long for him to respond in kind, our relationship charged with mutual bitterness. We clung on to the injustices, two people sharing a suffocating space, overwhelmed by the weight of everything that went unsaid.   Angry and indignant, we just couldn’t find a way to let go.

Until, sixteen years later, on a plane ride back from Oregon, I realized I could no longer stay.

And trust?  Well it took me decades to feel like I could do so with another.

This week I share what it took for me to reclaim my ability to trust a man. Click below to hear how I did it so you can, too.

(Oh… and that face at the end, was me not being able to shut the video off…. Nice, huh?)

Now it’s your turn:  Answer this question and share your response below.  What would it look like to give trust, starting right now?  To let your Freak Flag Fly?

In love, service and pleasure,

Joelle
